Frequently Asked Question
Tutorial: Prjix Planswift Integration
Summary
Prjix is designed to leverage the takeoff capabilities of Planswift by allowing Pay Items to flow seamlessly between the two systems. Pay Items can be sent from Prjix to Planswift for takeoff, and completed takeoffs can then be imported back into Prjix for cost modeling, resource assembly, and proposal preparation.
The integration supports:
Importing Planswift takeoffs directly into Prjix Cost Models
Synchronizing Pay Items, Cost Items, and Resources with Prjix libraries
Using Prjix as a stable, centralized library for Planswift templates
Where to Find Planswift Tools in Prjix
Planswift tools are available on the Ribbon:
Cost Model Integration: Importing Pay Items from Planswift
Step 1: Start the Pay Item Import
Open a Cost Model in Prjix.
Navigate to Tools → Planswift → Pay Items.
Click the Pay Items button.
Prjix will:
Check whether a Planswift project is currently open
Validate that the Planswift project number matches the Prjix project
Step 2: Handle Project Number Validation
If the project numbers match, the import proceeds automatically.
If they do not match, Prjix will display a confirmation dialog.
Select Yes to continue with the import anyway.
Step 3: Review the Import Summary
After confirming the import:
An Import Summary Grid appears.
Imported items are grouped into:
Library Items
Non-Library Items
All items are selected by default.
You may uncheck any items you do not want to import.
Once confirmed, Prjix will import the selected items and display a summary of how many items were added.
Sync with Library
After importing, Prjix will prompt you to Sync with Library.
What Sync with Library Does
Searches your default Prjix libraries for matching items
Automatically builds Cost Items and Resources based on library definitions
Saves time by reusing standardized assemblies
Important Notes
Only items that exist in both:
Pay Item Library, and
Default Cost Model Library
will sync.
Non-Library Items are not modified during sync.
Adding Non-Library Items to the Library (Optional)
If you want to reuse Non-Library Items in future projects:
Right-click the Pay Item.
Select Send to Library.
Assign a Pay Item Code when prompted.
Prjix will:
Create a new Pay Item Library entry
Use the Pay Item Description to build the library record
Make the item available for future Planswift templates
Pay Item Library Integration with Planswift
Prjix also integrates directly with Planswift Templates by synchronizing the Pay Item Library.
Why This Matters
Planswift relies on XML-based templates, which can be fragile in multi-user environments. Prjix solves this by:
Acting as the authoritative Pay Item library
Allowing assemblies, labor, equipment, materials, subs, and other resources to be managed in Prjix
Automatically applying those assemblies after takeoff data is imported
The Planswift Sync button is available on the Home Ribbon when the Pay Item Library is open.
Tutorial: Using the Prjix Template in Planswift
Step 1: Create and Sync the Prjix Template
Open Planswift.
Navigate to the Templates ribbon tab.
In Prjix, open the Pay Item Library.
Click Planswift Sync.
Step 2: Verify the Prjix Template in Planswift
Switch back to Planswift.
Confirm a template tab named “Prjix” is visible.
Verify all Prjix Pay Items appear on the tab.
Ensure the Prjix template is selected in the Templates sidebar.
Step 3: Perform Takeoff in Planswift
Use items from the Prjix template to perform takeoff.
Complete takeoff for a few sample items (2–3 items is sufficient).
Step 4: Import Takeoff Back into Prjix
Return to Prjix.
Open the Cost Model for your project (create one if needed).
Navigate to Tools → Planswift → Pay Items.
Click the Pay Items button.
Import all items shown in the dialog (checked by default).
When prompted, select Yes to Sync with Library.
Prjix will import all takeoff quantities and synchronize items with your default libraries.
Final Review
After import:
Verify all Planswift items were imported correctly
Confirm quantities, assemblies, and resources are applied as expected
Review Cost Model totals and structure
